Bone health is important to always maintain, because these organs support the body every day. Incorrect intake of food and beverages makes bones quickly porous and not strong.

Calcium is one of the important minerals needed to maintain bone health. Different types of daily food, from milk to even vegetables are good sources of calcium for bones.

But there are also several types of foods and drinks that actually damage bones, among others by interfering with calcium absorption. Some types of food and beverages should be restricted so that the bone is not porous, as follows:

1. soda

Eating more than 7 glasses of carbonated drinks every week can make your bones experience mineral deficiencies. Carbonated drinks can reduce bone density so it is prone to injury and diseases such as osteoporosis.

2. Sweet snacks

Eating lots of sweet snacks will make your bones porous. One proof is that the teeth are hollow because they eat too much sweet food. Although there is no strong evidence yet, too much sugar into the body will reduce bone density.

3. Caffeine

Foods or beverages with high caffeine can reduce bone density. Study of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders in 2016 showed that caffeine can dissolve calcium in the body. Every 100 milligrams of caffeine that enters the body dissolves 6 milligrams of calcium in the body.

4. Alcohol

High doses of alcohol intake contribute to reducing the composition of bones in the body, damaging bone structure and slowing bone formation. The age most vulnerable to the effects of excessive alcohol consumption is in adolescents young to adults aged 19 to 30 years. But if you consume it with a reasonable limit of 2 to 3 glasses a day, alcohol can still be enjoyed.

5. Red meat

For people with osteoporosis, eating red meat should be limited to at least 2 or 3 times a week with only 4 to 6 ounces of red meat. A study from Advances in Nutrition in 2017 revealed that limiting the amount of red meat consumption has a relationship with good bone growth.
