The name of Baluran National Park was published in 1980. Previously this national park is better known as Baluran Wildlife Refuge. Baluran Wildlife Reserve was formed in 1937 and endorsed by the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies who was then the supreme leader of Indonesia. Before becoming a wildlife sanctuary Baluran region is already known as a natural habitat of many living things. That's why K.W. Dammerman suggested that the Baluran area be used as a protected forest in 1930.

Before reaching Wongsorejo Village there is a left turn road leading to the Baluran National Park visitor center.
If you want to ride public transportation from Surabaya take a bus majoring Banyuwangi that passes Situbondo. Ask to get off at the entrance of the national park. If you are from the east ride a private vehicle, you can take the pathway Banyuwangi - Batangan - Bekol. Admission price per person is 5 thousand Rupiah only while the motor is charged 5 thousand and car 10 thousand Rupiah. This is the ticket price for a typical day.
